Language Check #3

October 2, 2013 by Chris and Maggie Hostetter

This week has been a bit crazy as we had 5 people into Pal for a few days. Three were consultants that did language checks with each of us and spent many hours with us discussing the direction of our work here. The other two were ladies who came in just to bless us during this busy time by watching our kids all day every day for three days. So, the mornings were spent on language evaluations and then each afternoon and evening we all met for 3-5 hours to talk about church planting strategies, lesson writing, Bible translation, and many other things related to our work here. This morning everyone flew out and now we’re winding down after the long week.

Anyways, the big news is .. . We’re done with formal language study! This does not mean that we’re completely fluent in the Pal language but it does mean that we’re quite capable and are now able to turn our attention to Bible translation and writing Bible lessons. As we continue to live and work with the Pal people our language ability will continue to progress. Thanks for praying for us and encouraging us through the dark days of language study.
