A couple weeks ago we graduated 14 students from our first ever Pal Literacy School. The whole community turned out and the rain held off as we went through a short program and then ate together. This was one step forward towards the ultimate goal of bringing people into a relationship with Jesus Christ. As we translate the Word of God we want the Pal people to be able to read His Word for themselves and further down the road we want to see them using Bible lessons and creating their own as the Pal Church grows, matures, and expands. The literacy program is just the beginning but it’s a vital step in the process. Our second class begins in January but instead of Nate and I teaching this class some of our recent graduates will take on the teaching duties and we’ll aid and support them in this new endeavor.
On the same day as our Literacy graduation the helicopter made 6 trips into Pal carrying supplies for the Fachners’ house remodel. What once was the Lockwoods’ house is now the Fachners’ house and 4 guys came in for a week to help make their house their home. They made some changes to the interior of the house and added a porch and an office to the outside of the house. On this day the helicopter made its last flight into Pal at dusk and so the pilot stayed with us for the night. The next morning we said goodbye to our teammates and their work team, and we hopped on the helicopter and flew out to a New Tribes center for a translation workshop, which is an item for another blog post.
Thanks for keeping up with us!
