We have been living here for two weeks now but it feels as if we have been here for months! The first week was packed full of new sights, sounds and smells as we adjusted to a completely new way of life here. I got my driver’s license within a few days of living here (after only paying them 60 pgk) and started learning how to drive on the opposite side of the road.
With many small villages right around where we live, we were able to start meeting people and learning language right away! The place the we travel to almost every day is called Bikes (Big-ess). Its a 5-10 min walk and we have to cross a small river to get there. The people in this community opened right up to us and were super friendly.
Everybody here loves Isaac! When we go into town, you can here people calling out “Isaac” (they say Eye-zak), and even in the village, everyone will come up to greet him. This was hard for him at first, since everyone wanted to touch him and hold him. He got pretty shy for the first week, but now he has warmed up and loves going into the village with us to play with the kids.
We have had much good instruction in this Orientation process that will be extremely helpful in the church-planting process and we are very grateful for our time here. I feel like we have learned and experienced so much so far, and we cant wait to see what God will do next!
