Well, hello.

August 21, 2012 by Conni Dilworth

I find that packing is the worst way to say “goodbye” to one part of life and “hello” to the other. Surrounding one’s possessions in cardboard, shoving it in a vehicle, carrying it to its destination, ripping open the container, and then seeing again what was in the old place and unleashing it to the new place. It seems like such a rude and unfeeling way to put a period on a sentence in order to begin another.

To be honest, this transition has gifted me with homesickness for the first time. I’m realizing how my time in Phoenix the last year and a half brought about so many new friendships and strengthening of old ones. And I’m missing it desperately.

Yes, I tend to be melancholy and sad during transitions, so don’t be too concerned for me. There are many wonderful things going on in my heart and mind as well.

I have been telling my coworkers that I see now how the Lord has been working on building my partners for this ministry for years. I am just now experiencing it all playing together. I can’t tell you all how much your involvement has meant to me in just the past few weeks. As I’ve been purchasing every bath towel, trash can, and hanger the Lord has made me acutely aware of all your sacrifices. I’ve had many emails, texts, and phone calls from so many of you as well, communicating your prayers and concerns on my behalf. I’m tearing up even now as I type this. My heart is full.

Please be in prayer for me as this week continues on. We have had Student Leader Training, Registration Weekend, and Orientation that last few weeks. On top of that full schedule, I’ve been unpacking and getting as settled as possible before the new semester starts … which begins tomorrow morning! As you can imagine, my energy levels are up and down constantly.

I will be posting pictures of some of my new friends among the student body soon. You will love to see their faces and hear about how the Lord is challenging them through His Word to impact the world for eternity!
