Young beggar girl…For He stands at the right hand of the needy!

A common occurrence as we walk downtown each day are people we meet begging us for money. Women, children, and handicapped people! Darryl usually fills his pockets with miscellaneous coins each day so he can give to those approaching us. Often they are thankful for just a few pesos. Becky, tends to take the children to the fruit stands and buys them apples or oranges as she fears that they might not be allowed to keep their coins. (Sometimes, the children must give to their parents or other adults.) Soon she can be surrounded with a dozen of them. When she runs out of coins, she says “humana!” or (Finished or All gone!) She will watch them as they peel their mandarin oranges into sections and share with their friends.

We “bump into” the same people and some of them approach us more than once in a day and then the following days as we go in and out of stores. We are hoping that someday these special Filipino “friends” of ours will know the riches that come from knowing there is One who can meet ALL their needs…physically and spiritually…ALL the time! Please pray for us and them as we live among them that our lives will point them to the Saviour.

“With my mouth I will greatly extol the LORD;
in the great throng of worshipers, I will praise him.
For He stands at the right hand of the needy,
to save their lives from those who would condemn them.”
Psalm 109:30 & 31 (NIV)
