In August 2017, one of our eldest believers, Aman, said, “I will be next.” Was he referring to getting baptized? No. Was he referring to teaching a new Bible study? No. Was he referring to his own death? Yes.
The day that Aman made this comment was shortly after the death of another believer. Logically, due to his age and health condition, yes, Aman should have been next. However, in 2018, two other believers died. So, Aman wasn’t next after all. Just a couple of weeks ago though, Aman’s health suddenly deteriorated, and he passed away.
Like most believers, Aman’s grown children didn’t share his faith in Jesus Christ. This always leads to a clash with the family of the deceased as they want to give him a traditional burial. However, Aman’s family did recognize that he was a member of our church and welcomed our participation in his funeral. We were able to share about Aman’s faith and the Good News of salvation through the work of Jesus Christ. Please pray with us that somehow, through Aman’s death others will desire to know more of the truth.
We will remember Aman as a faithful believer who sat on the front row every Sunday. He will be greatly missed by us and the church family.
