Doctor Decisions

March 17, 2007 by

Thanks for your prayers for Joy after we received notice that her doctor of 9 years would no longer be taking her Medicaid HMO.

Initial recommendations from the doctor’s office was to take Joy off MediPass and go with another insurance so they could continue to see her. But after investigating, we realized that the old adage is true, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Going off MediPass would mean Joy would no longer be eligible for the MedWaiver, which provides supplies, respite care, physical therapy, and so forth. So we decided to keep her on MediPass, and to take her to a new doctor.

On Friday, March 16th, we got a letter from MediPass, notifying us of the name of the primary care physician that they have assigned to Joy. I called on Friday to set up a “get-acquainted” appointment for early April. I got a favorable impression just on the phone with the receptionist. We know God continues to be in control and is moving Joy according to His plan.

One further note – we are so thankful for how our government provides for Joy. We can provide love and security, a home and daily care, but we would not be able to manage financially to care for Joy without the government’s help. Sometimes, it gets complicated with all the red tape; nevertheless, we are truly thankful.

And we are thankful also to you for your concern.
