One Door Closes

Faith Fellowship Church had about 30 people when we came, it grew to about 50 for a short time, and then declined to about 18, including children. We haven’t had a pastor, although some good Bible teachers have filled the pulpit.

Dave started out at the church as the Music Director and multi-media director.  His involvement grew, and in 2004, he became an elder and began teaching on Wednesday nights.

My involvement also grew. In addition to helping Dave with the music, I prepared the bulletin, and taught a small Junior Sunday School class, writing my own curriculum based on the Building on Firm Foundation lessons for Acts and Ephesians.

Since last year, Nathan has also been heavily involved, handling the sound system and the Song Select program to project the words of the songs onto the screen. (Click on any of the pictures to see them larger.)

All that has changed.

Last fall, the elders came to the realization that it had become too much to come up with speakers. They decided to continue as long as God supplied through one man, but that we would take steps toward closing the church. The church family was resigned as everyone knew how hard it had become to find speakers.

Praise the Lord that He has brought another church body to buy the building. They have some of the same vision as Faith Fellowship had, and we trust they will breathe fresh air into an old building.

Last Sunday was our last service as a church family. The new church has already started preparing the building to meet their needs and outreach. Their first service will be on Easter.

We have mixed emotions. While we are relieved to have a break from the heavy responsibilities, we also will seriously miss our involvement in music and teaching.  

This door closing will have a huge impact on our lives.  Yet, we are looking forward to seeing what doors God will open now.
