It’s time to write the content for the Notebook which will accompany "Firm Foundations – Creation to Christ."
This project started with research. My co-worker, Pam, made calls to pastors and Bible teachers who had bought the old notebook to inquire if they had suggestions for a revised notebook. She found that most wanted something interactive, but still with space for the students to take personal notes.
The revision team tossed a lot of ideas around, and ended up with a layout that has space for note taking, but also has review questions which key in on the major thoughts for each outline point in the lessons.
I started writing the interactive part of the notebook today.
I feel the weight of responsiblity in this task. Formulating questions is probably one of the hardest parts of this whole revision project. And I am very conscious that this notebook is what the students will hold in their hands. This is what they will use to remember what they learned.
I’m so thankful that I am not alone in this project – the others on the revision team will work from my draft. Paul, Pam, and Trevor will all have excellent input, and help keep me on track.
I anticipate that the questions for each lesson will go thorugh 4 or 5 drafts. It’s all worth it, though, if it helps the truth of Scripture sink deep into the students’ hearts and understanding.
- Pray that I will be able to identify what is most important in each outline point. I think it is ALL important, but need to focus in on only one or two thoughts per point.
- Pray for clear and creative wording so the questions will be framed in such a way that the student will be able to draw forth the truths they have learned in the lessons.
- Pray for the others on the revision team as they work on the questions after I’ve written them. Pray for unity of heart and mind over the details.
