Life is a Vapor

Beach retreat - Morning service

NTM’s home office had its annual retreat this past weekend.  On Sunday morning, we gathered at 8 to sing and have testimonies.  Just minutes after this picture was taken, the gentleman under the umbrella was with the Lord.

Paul was Dave’s co-worker.  He had just celebrated 5 years of service with the Computer Department.  And it was a real celebration – he loved his work.

And he loved his Lord.  He gave testimony just before he died. In the past few months, there had been 5 deaths in his church, plus a sister-in-law, plus Joy.  Paul shared about the hope we have in Christ, and his confidence in Heaven.  He sat down, we sang another song, and started to sing “Amazing Love.” And that’s when those of us sitting near him realized something was wrong.

Some of our group preformed CPR. Others flagged down the beach patrol who gave him oxygen and started other procedures.  And the parimedics came shortly thereafter.  Although everyone did all they could, Paul had experienced a heart attack and never had a pulse from the moment he collapsed.

One moment with us, and the next with the Lord.  Life is a Vapor!

  • Pray for Rita, his wife of 47 years.
  • Pray for Jeff and Jason, his single sons who lived with him.
  • Pray for his church, which has seen so much death in such a short time.
  • Pray for Dave, who depended heavily on Paul’s ministry in setting up new computers.
