Translation Check

April 27, 2014 by David and Shirley Diepenbrock

translation-02

Our Ivanga co-translators joined us at our mission center to meet with translation consultant, Ned Beall, for a final check on Luke chapters 6-16.  Their commitment to the translation was a huge encouragement to us.

When they arrived 1 1/2 days late for the check they explained the many challenges they faced on the trip.  After a day’s hike downriver to a village where they waited to catch a boat ride downriver and across the ocean, they had another overnight in a village where they caught a truck ride to a nearby city.  There they were able to ride a PMV (public motor vehicle) to our mission center.  They arrived weary, hungry, dirty and determined to get to work!  They arrived late in the morning and after a little time for showers and lunch we were able to begin.

What a blessing to see how the important the translation is to them by their commitment to the job!  We sure enjoyed the time we had to work side by side around God’s Word.

translation-01

shirley-esther

Recently, Shirley traveled along with co-worker Esther Smith to the missionary orientation center to help with orientating new missionaries about the resources available for homeschool families serving in remote locations.  It was a blessing to meet these young families preparing to serve here in Papua New Guinea in the various ministries God is leading them to.

Oh ya!  Enjoying a moment.  Nothing puts a smile on this misso’s face like a latte coupled with an ocean view.  The missionary ladies escaped for a luncheon together a local restaurant.  It is an annual tradition for the ladies serving in the Islands and we all look forward to this time of relaxed fellowship and fun.

caitie-easter

Caitie’s little friends next door hopped over on Easter to deliver a little gift to Cait.  What cuties!
