Investing for Eternity

October 5, 2015 by David and Joyce Hilt

We’ve put behind us another busy summer of ministry and are now in the throes of engaging fall campus ministry, speaking in Christian schools, to home-schoolers, and anywhere we can impact children with the work the Lord has given the church to do.  The effort that goes into preparing teaching materials for opportunities we have throughout the year is a worthwhile investment of time and resources.  Each lesson or presentation needs a carefully planned scripture focus along with visual resources and media illustrations.  Our heart in bringing missions vision to school age children is to give them a solid perspective of the task Jesus left for us to do. (Matthew 28:19-20)

If we can nurture a biblical worldview of God’s heart for the world in the hearts of kids, then maybe –just maybe, some will take up the task and join in the work when they are of age to make career choices.  We are here to assist your church with valued insights to teach your kids the importance of the task.  How else will we equip and send out laborers if we are not educating both kids and adults with the command Jesus gave us to make disciples among the nations?

In the meanwhile we are taking on more children’s meetings and more church meetings to ramp up our mobilization efforts –at mission events, as well as sharing in Focus Groups.  …But we really aren’t ‘mobilizing’ anyone, are we?   You see, we believe the hearts of those who will serve in missions will be prompted by God’s Word.  …So we stand in a place to intercept such individuals and nurture them thru the Word.  BTW: We are also available to speak in home gatherings so consider rallying those you know who have interest to serve in missions and let us come talk to your group.

Right now we are doing a lot of missions mentoring from our home.  This gives us opportunity to be specific with those who sense God moving them towards career missions, and it helps them grasp the urgency in getting the gospel to those who never heard of Jesus.  We are currently meeting with five couples who expressed keen interest to serve cross-culturally so our investment of time spent with these people is helping to shape their direction for ministry.  –Last month we added two new couples and now two others contacted us recently so we hope to begin meeting with them this month.

Please keep us in your prayers as we motivate children and young people to be the next generation of believers to carry the gospel to those waiting tohear.
