Our Menu Options Have Changed

July 25, 2018 by David and Joyce Hilt

Don’t you love it when you place a call to a business or an 800 number and you get an automated call-center robot that begins with “Please listen carefully to the following as our menu options have changed” and then it steps you thru menu after menu, only to learn that they don’t offer the option you need.  …Or if you do strike it lucky enough to find what you need you soon find yourself in an enduring que.  “Your wait time is approximately 17 minutes,” they’ll say.  So they put you on hold and you wait… and you wait.  Many times it feels like life is on hold.  –Ever feel that way?

We don’t have a menu for ministry but we certainly have options in our role of mobilizing harvest workers to motivate the gospel among unreached people. Some of those people live far away.  …And some of them live right in our own community.  But these aren’t options; they are opportunities the Lord gives to each of us to impact another with the gospel.

Comparatively, there are people groups all around the world whose lives are seemingly on hold when it comes to receiving the gospel.  –While modern missions has done much to speed the gospel to previously isolated and unreached areas, there is much to do to reach the remaining people groups who wait for a gospel witness.  We’re working to change that by mobilizing young people who will step up to the task and deliver the message that will impact lives for eternity.

We feel like our lives are on hold right now as we balance ministry duties with current family responsibilities.  While we’ve cut ministry hours to nearly half, we’ve increased family duties to nearly double though we are still putting in full-time hours of ministry.  It’s just that other responsibilities have pressed us down to a regular 40 hour work week although we would rather be pressing forward with our normal, crazy-busy schedule.

Yes, our ‘menu has changed’ and some things feel like they are on hold.  …But we are doing our utmost to serve where God has placed us.  Please keep us in your prayers as we continue making life impact through meetings with interested individuals for ministry consultations, speaking to small groups, in college-n-career group, in camps, in churches, and wherever and whenever the Lord opens an opportunity for us to motivate missions in the plan of God to declare Christ to the nations.

Thank you for your partnership… we’re in this together with God.
