Aviation Fuel Shortage

April 7, 2024 by David and Joyce Hilt

Last month we put out a plea for prayer on social media about an aviation fuel shortage in Papua New Guinea.  Our planes and helicopters are dependent upon uninterrupted fuel supplies to service missionaries living & ministering in remote locations among unreached people throughout the country.  No fuel means that there will be no flights to provide our personnel with necessary supplies for their monthly needs.

We can relate to this as back in the day when we lived interior the plane was down for repair and awaiting parts from abroad.  We went for a period of over three weeks eating rations of popcorn—it’s all we had.  God graciously provided for our needs when He sent a tribesman to our door with a large piece of wild boar meat.  The plane was eventually repaired and we began receiving regular supply flights.

Fuel shortages are serious business, not just for food stocks being supplied to our teams, but also having fuel to operate generators and getting medical supplies delivered to our missionaries so they can continue meeting the medical needs of the people they serve.

Thankfully, the fuel shortage situation has been remedied to some degree and flights are moving again.  How long will this last?  We don’t know but we DO know your prayers can make a difference.  We hope you will bring this need before the Lord in prayer.
