December 1993 – Joleen’s Letter

December 14, 1993 by David and Shari Ogg

Dear Friends,

Thank you for standing with us and our family in prayer. Shari’s sister, Joleen Dolash Marino, entered the presence of the Lord on November 20, 1993. Though many tears have been shed, we are pleased that now Joleen is enjoying disease-free eternal life in heaven. God’s Word has been a source of great comfort to all the family as we suffer the loss of our dear loved one. We are very thankful that God made it possible for us to be here together as a family at this time. A memorial service was held in San Diego on Nov. 23 which was a special time of remembering Joleen. On December 8th Shari’s family flew to Colombia, South America. They will attend the field conference, have a memorial service, and then stay through Christmas with family and friends before returning to the U.S.A. the first week in January. They plan to spend their furlough in El Cajon, CA.

We are staying with David’s parents through Christmas and we are eager to return to Papua New Guinea as soon as the Lord provides for tickets to be purchased. Pray with us that we will be able to return the end of January. We have been spending a lot of time thinking about heaven these days and as a result we have been challenged anew with the urgency of reaching the Simbari with the Message of Life. After all that’s what Christmas is all about isn’t it? When Jesus came to earth, the incarnation of God, He lived and died and then rose from the dead to make possible the greatest gift, eternal life. That’s the Message of Life. That’s Christmas!

Have a Blessed Christmas,

The Ogg Family, David, Shari, Esther & Simon
