David passed his final language check on March 27 and has started translating Bible lessons in preparation for teaching chronologically to our whole village this coming fall. The first phase of chronological lessons build Biblical foundations using Old Testament stories that reveal the character of God and principles such as the lost ness and helplessness of man, God being holy and just and demanding death as the payment for sin. And God providing a substitute for death through the sacrificial lamb. Then we will teach the life of Christ and show how He took our sin upon himself when He, himself, became The sacrificial Lamb.
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! Jn 1:29
There are 68 lessons in this first phase of chronological teaching which are designed for unbelievers. I am translating these lessons in a format that can be used by Simbari teachers themselves in the future. It has been very challenging to deal with concepts like the following:
- God’s character (eternal, omniscient, omnipotent, holy and just)
- The Trinity
- The rebellion of Satan and his followers
- The creation of everything from nothing
The first 6 lessons have been full of very difficult concepts to translate but it is exciting because I am already enjoying the fruit of those language study years. My grasp of the language has been vital for fine tuning the translation. I have also been translating some other booklets in preparation for translation of actual Scripture. Please pray for:
- Good, consistent translation helpers
- Wisdom for David while translating difficult Biblical concepts
- God to prepare the Simbaris’ hearts for the teaching in the fall
