Jesus Loves Me…the Bible tells me so!
We have been encouraging the new believers to write songs in their own language that lift up their Savior. They really like to sing and over the last several months they have come up with several new songs and translated others that they heard at a PNG believers conference. It is such a joy to us when they come to the meeting with a new song in the Simbari language to worship their Savior. You should see our smiles. Sometimes they are so big it is hard to sing along with them. 🙂 At our last meeting a fellow brought the Simbari version of “Jesus Loves Me” that he had just translated. The chorus goes like this:
Jisasol mino kalo kwinandopiyo.
Jisasol mino kalo kwinandopiyo.
Jisasol mino kalo kwinandopiyo.
Baibel tov toro andandopiyo.
I can almost picture God smiling too as He hears the worship of His Children. I must say that it is a very special joy to hear God exalted with a new song in a tribal language.
Message for the heart
In this second phase of teaching we have been doing a quick overview of the Old Testament stories that we already taught them but this time showing Christ as the fulfilment of those Scriptures. It has been really good and after last week’s message the believers were particularly moved and kept saying how their hearts were so stirred. This reminds me of the two disciples who walked with Jesus on the road to Emmaus. After Jesus had “expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself” they had said, “Did not our hearts burn within us…while He opened the Scriptures to us”. The same thing is happening before our eyes! The Holy Spirit is taking God’s Word and applying it to the hearts of the Simbari.
In Him,
