The Flesh Is Weak
We continue to study the book of Mark on Sundays with the believers. Currently we are in Mark 14 and just finished looking at Peter’s insistance that he would not deny Christ. Peter and the disciples were not really depending on God but on their own strength and they were convinced that their own strength was enough. But on the other hand even though Jesus was God he still depended on His Father for everything. Are we better than Him? Of course not, we need to depend on our Father for everything too just like Jesus did. As we moved on to the part about Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane we noticed that the teacher started to get excited as he spoke and everyone was really listening carefully. They pondered Jesus’ humanity and also that He was God and could heal sickness and death but would have to hold back His power and suffer to pay the price for our sins. Then when the disciples were sleeping again Jesus tells them that “the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak”. Raymond who was teaching that section humbled himself by sharing some examples from his own life. It’s exciting to see God at work and when the service was over nobody got up to leave like usual. 🙂 We encouraged them to bring their families and friends in the weeks ahead as we will be teaching again on the significance of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Please pray.
First School Break
Esther and Simon have completed their first quarter and will be coming home for a 3 week break. They both have been doing well and we are really looking forward to this first break together with them. It’s been a while since there was a day clear enough for a plane to come in so please pray for the weather and the flight to get them home on Thursday morning our time. Also it would be nice if it didn’t rain the whole time they are home so they can do some things outside.
Translating Bible lessons
David continues revising the Bible lessons for the foundational teaching from Genesis through the Gospel. It’s a big job but it will be worth it because they will be used for all our future outreaches both in this village and other villages. We also hope the believers will use them to teach their families.
Thanks for praying,
David & Shari Ogg
(Esther, Simon, Rachel & Jason too)
