Recently we received a call from a Simbari Bible teacher in Papua New Guinea named Rison. Rison is the father of Gwandambi, the boy with the leg infection. He had good news for us about Gwandambi’s progress since his trip out to town to see the doctor. The doctor prescribed a new treatment program including strong antibiotics and physical therapy. After a few months of this he is now walking around much better and is even hiking to some gardens. This is wonderful news! Please keep praying for his complete recovery.
We were also told that the men in the leadership development program whom David has been training are preparing to travel around doing evangelism in some of the remotest parts of the Simbari tribe. They are planning to begin the trip in April so please pray for God to be glorified and that He would bless their efforts so that many would trust in Christ as their Savior.
It’s encouraging to hear about the Simbari church planning ministry activities even in our absence which is another sign that the church is slowly maturing. We are excited to return to Papua New Guinea and continue with leadership development and Bible translation etc. Our departure date is set for July 21st! We want to finish well, and there is still more work needing done to complete the church planting effort in Simbari.
Home assignment is going by quickly and we continue to enjoy many opportunities to share about our ministry with the Simbari tribe at various churches and with friends, family and supporters. It’s also been refreshing to be able to worship and spend time in the Word of God in our own culture and language. In addition to participating in various church activities we are homeschooling Jason and are fixing up our house as we are able. Shari was blessed with a trip to visit her family in Florida and just returned a few days ago. It all keeps us very busy but we are so thankful for every opportunity. If we haven’t had the opportunity to meet with you yet and you would like us to share about our ministry with the Simbari tribe or even just for a personal visit, please feel free to send us an email or click “contact” on the website toolbar above.
