Many have been asking for an update on Gwandambi, the boy with the leg infection. It’s hard to believe it’s been over 2 years now since he first came down with a bone infection in his leg. He received some treatment early on but he was sent home from the hospital before the infection was fully healed. Eventually it got worse and worse until he was flown out to town again and admitted to a different hospital. He has had two surgeries to clean out infection and to install hardware to help his leg regain some of the 7 cm in length that it had lost because of the infection. It has been a difficult journey for Gwandambi and his family. His parents, Rison and Jeris have been taking turns caring for him in the hospital. Over here there is a shortage of medical personnel so family members must take care of patients needs like bringing them food and taking them to the toilet etc. etc. But no beds are provided so Rison spent months sleeping on the concrete floor next to his son’s hospital bed. Gwandambi’s leg has regained over 5 cm in length and he is due for his (hopefully) final surgery very soon. This family has endured so much pain and hardship but has done so with such grace. It has been wonderful to see the body of Christ from around the world caring for this family. Donors and missionaries and even believers from other tribes who didn’t even know this family have all joined in to help them in different ways. You can help too by praying for a successful final surgery and for his complete healing. Pray also for Rison and Jeris to continue to be strong and have boldness as they share the love of Christ with those around them.
