Translation Check Completed

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

What a joy to see this wonderful truth demonstrated again this past week as David and three Simbari men met with translation consultants to do the final check of five New Testament books. (1 Cor, 1 Tim, Tit, and 1-2 Thess) As they carefullly read through each verse, the Simbari helpers could hardly contain their excitement over hearing these passages for the first time in their own language. It has certainly pierced their hearts! One of the guys shared with us how he is so excited about “God’s Talk” that he wants to go around sharing it with others even if it means facing opposition or death. Wow! God’s Word is truly “living and powerful!”

Urgent Prayer Needed

Many of you have been praying for Gwandambi, the Simbari boy who has been battling a bone infection in his femur for more than two years. He was due for another surgery this week to remove the metal rods in his leg and put a cast on. However, when the bone specialist examined his recent X-rays he discovered that the infection is still there, so he has begun a new treatment beginning with injecting a strong medicine directly into his bone. Gwandambi has already received many treatments to eradicate the infection and none of them have been successful. If this one does not take care of the infection, Gwandambi may lose his leg. In a third-world country like PNG, it would be especially difficult for him to live and function without a limb. The next week or two will be crucial as they wait to see how he responds to this treatment. We would really appreciate your prayers for Gwandambi and his family.
