We have been back in Papua New Guinea for about a week now and started back into translation work the day after arriving. David and his translation helper, Raymond, have been working nonstop going over notes concerning possible draft revisions to better match the source language (SL) text. We always like to discuss these with mother-tongue speakers before we make any significant changes just to be sure everything remains natural in the receptor language (RL) of Simbari.
February 7-14, 2020 are the dates for the final consultant check on the last 7 books of the Simbari New Testament. We will be checking 1 & 2 Peter, 1, 2 & 3 John, Jude and Revelation. We have assembled a team of Simbari men who will be hearing these books for the first time. Please pray for the team to work well together, and to be able to clearly tell back and answer questions about what they are hearing. Please pray for good health for all of us involved. Thanks so much!
Christmas with the family
Before coming back to PNG we had the privilege of spending Christmas with ALL our kids and their spouses. Esther and Tim came from Oregon, Jason from Wisconsin and Rachel and Albion from Missouri. And Simon and Chandler live right in our hometown. What a treat for us all to be together and we were even able to pull off the family picture above on Christmas day.
Grandparents 2020
At Christmas time Esther and Tim let us know our first grandchild is on the way! They kept it a secret until they arrived for Christmas and then surprised us all with the wonderful news. Please pray for our grandbaby and for Esther and Tim as their family grows.
