Translation publication update +video

Simbari Translation Ready for Typesetting

Thank you for praying for us as we completed proofing and checking the text of the Simbari New Testament and Old Testament portions. Since completing the consultant checking on the translation in Feb. 2020 we have been working full time on a slow proof-read checking process of all 10,000 verses in preparation for printing. We made 5,000 notes during the proof-reading which we then spent months on the phone to Papua New Guinea going over with David’s translation helper. We were able to work through the notes dismissing some that didn’t require any change and for others making any small adjustments that were necessary to the text. This last week we completed that process and wrote to our mission’s publication team to let them know we are ready to start the typesetting process with them. They are already working on 2 other translations but as they have time they will begin work on the Simbari translation. We still have things to do but instead of it being text-related it will be mostly format-related work now.

Video about completion of Simbari New Testament

Our translation helper, Raymond, shared some of his thoughts concerning the completion of the Simbari New Testament on the day we finished the consultant checking. The audio is in Simbari but there are English subtitles so you can follow along. Play video: https://youtu.be/wkxSx1dh3Uk
