November 2026 Update

November 3, 2026 by David and Shari Ogg

Planning for PNG

A lot has been happening since we last wrote. We have booked tickets for a month-long ministry trip to PNG in February and March. We are so thankful for how God provides faithfully for our needs even when there are extra expenses like these tickets. We have started the visa application process for our short-term work visas. Pray that we wouldn’t run into any problems.

Gathering of God’s People

Local believers from a number of people groups recently met together for fellowship and teaching from God’s Word. 16 people from the Simbari church made the trek to another tribal location to participate and were greatly encouraged. Pray that they would hold on firmly to the truths they heard and share them with others.

Audio Bible Progress

We talked to our Simbari co-worker Raymond after the gathering and he told us he has completed all the recordings from the OT portions (3000 verses) and from Matthew through Philippians (6000+). We let him know our plans to come and encouraged him to try and finish the remaining recordings before we get there. He was invited to another people group to do some discipleship there so pray for him to be able to finish the recordings before the discipleship trip and for God’s blessing on his ministry there.

Keep praying for rain for PNG

The El Niño causes rain on this side of the globe, but in PNG it is causing a drought. As gardens dry out, many people burn as they clear their gardens, and these fires sometimes spread beyond control, creating heavy smoke. The smoke hinders some of the flying necessary to reach remote locations. Also the gardens are not irrigated so food and drinking water are in short supply.

Hospitality

We have been able to host a number of people over the last month and have made frequent trips back and forth to the airport. One of our guests was our former co-worker Jeanne Best who we worked with in our early days of ministry in PNG. It was wonderful catching up and hearing how God is still using her as she shares her faith and passes out gospel tracts on the streets of her hometown.
