No excuses

I don’t think I have ever noticed how many times Moses told God “no.” Reading through Exodus 3-6 I count 8 verses where Moses either directly said “no” to God, or insuated that he didn’t want to obey. (Ex 3:11, 15; Exodus 4:1, 10, 13: Exodus 5:23; Exodus 6:12, 30) But God graciously persisted. He answered all of Moses’ excuses and sent him anyway.

1. I will be with you (Ex 3:11)
2. Who has made man’s mouth? I will be with your mouth and teach you what to say. (Ex 4:11)
3. You will see what I will do.” (Ex 6:1)

God desires to use our lives to display Him to those around us. He has promised to be with us. But, more than just being with us, He is in us! He wants to use our mouths to speak His words. He wants to use our feet to go to those He wants to speak to. If we would only be available and willing for Him to use, He says to us, as He did to Moses, “You will see what I will do!”

I am thankful that God ignores our excuses and is persistent in helping us to obey. He had to go to pretty elaborate lengths for Moses to get him to obey. I pray it doesn’t take that much for us to obey. I pray for you that your heart would be soft and open to Him to use. That what ever you have to do today that you would remember that you bear His image, and He wants to seen, known and loved through your life today. And may you get a small glimpse of what God is doing through you today.
