Have you ever had both of your vehicles not running? This was the situation we faced on Friday. Praise God for friends; one who lent us their van and another who came and towed our van to the workshop to get fixed. Dean didn’t get back till late that night but the kids and I had a good time at the neighbors house as we were invited to join their church get together. Levi, Mariah and I ate at home but the girls ate at the neighbors house. Our neighbors son came up to me later and said, “Carissa had a good dinner!”. Pleasant, warm summer evening, starry sky, bonfire, kids running around having fun and singing praises to God. What a lovely evening, we will miss our neighbors when we leave.
Dean was surprised Saturday when he went to his Dads place to find several of his brothers there. They were putting up a shed for their Dad. The kids enjoyed seeing their grandparents and playing with their cousins. The kids made out like bandits on Saturday, they got to go with their Dad to grandma’s then they went to our church “Sunday School Picnic”. When they got home we all laughed at their funny face masks.
Beef pot roast done in the slow cooker with carrots, onions, and peppers, mashed potatoes, sweet corn from off the cob, gravy and ice cream for dessert was what was on the menu for Sunday lunch. A nice time was had by all as we ate together and fellow-shipped with friends from church. Afterward we shared our presentation but our poor friend could hardly keep his eyes open because he was so exhausted from his work week and a busy Saturday. What a pleasure it is to share our hearts and ministry with people in this relaxed, informal way. We are enjoying these times together with our friends and acquaintances. We are excited to let everyone know that we had a call from a couple we know Sunday evening. They have decided to join us as ministry partners, Praise the Lord!
Monday was mostly uneventful. Got the kids off to school then I had to take Dean to Jersey Shore so he could fix our car. I got a little lost on the way home (I’m absolutely hopeless when it comes to directions). I managed to do half an hour of “Rosetta Stone” french study. Nous avons des fleurs rouge (we have some red flowers). Dean got the car fixed, my husband is a mechanical mastermind! I appreciate him so much. After the kids were fed, their homework done, then bathed and in bed I worked on thank you letters until midnight then fell exhausted into bed.
