2010 started with me serving at the NTM mobilization center in Jersey Shore, PA doing general maintenance, some construction and grounds work. It had been over a year since I had first agreed to fill in there temporarily while we tried to raise more support to go back to Senegal. In November of 2009 God had made it clear that we were not to go back to Senegal; this came as a shock and was hard to accept. There was a tentative offer made by the leadership at Jersey Shore to continue on there full time but we did not see the Lord leading that way.
Early in 2010 we were asked to consider serving in Florida. In March Trudy and I traveled to Sanford to meet with leadership and staff at the home office. We got an overview of the new ministry and we got to look at housing. In April I made the final decision to accept the position in Florida, after that things moved fairly quickly. God provided a very nice house for us to rent and amazingly He raised up the rest of the support we needed to continue serving with NTM. I finished serving at Jersey Shore in May and we were then designated en route to Florida. We arrived in Deltona, FL on July 27 and the kids started school 2 weeks later.
I have settled in well to my new ministry as administrators assistant. One aspect of my work that I particularly like is when errors occur I’m the one who has to find, investigate and figure out what went wrong. It has been a learning curve for me but I’m enjoying it. I look forward to being able to streamline a lot of the work I do. Hopefully this will make the services NTM provides for it’s missionaries more efficient and less time consuming.
