“I just feel like the Lord wants me to,” Bobbie said when asked about being a language helper. She is a widow who takes care of an adult son with Down syndrome, helps care for some of her other adult children who have health needs and works evenings/nights cleaning offices fulltime. As a language helper, she has helped future missionaries practice their linguistics skills for over 20 years. It would be easy for her to say no this time and no one would blame her, but she takes her role helping to prepare missionaries for their work overseas seriously and wants to do her part. She has heard the reports of missionaries that she has worked with regarding how God is working in the hearts of people around the world. This inspires her to persevere even when she has already so much to do. Please pray for her and the other language helpers.
Dennis is in Oklahoma now, working with his students. Most of the students really enjoy this time of putting into practice the linguistics skills they have learned. They especially like getting to know their language helpers. Please pray that t
he students would learn a lot of helpful things for their future ministry. (Including keeping united in the Spirit, preferring each other, being faithful in their work)
Monika and the kids stayed behind in Missouri this time because both of the boys are in school. Dennis is gone during the week but gets to come home for most weekends. We are not used to this and miss each other. Please pray that we would all handle this temporary separation well.
Lukas is beginning a program for gifted kids this semester. He likes it so far and enjoys having his little brother Niklas in the same wing as him at school. Lukas is protective of his brother and very kind to his sister Anna.
Niklas began Kindergarten this year. He has been wanting to go for some time. He loves to talk and needs to learn not to do that in class. He cares for others and tells them what he thinks they need to know.
Please pray for their protection from all evil while in public school and that they would learn to rely on the Lord even in that setting. Please pray that they would become a light for him in this world.
Anna, now, is home alone without big brothers during the day. She is becoming quite the little helper for her mom.
Monika continues to help in the Linguistics department and is involved with other women here at the training center and in the community. Pray for wisdom for her in deciding where to invest her time. Pray for both of us that we would let the Lord work through us as spouses, parents, friends and missionaries.
