We made it safe and sound back to PNG. None of our suitcases were lost, so that was good. However, when you travel with 15 bags you are going to get lots of stares. We all helped out unpacking our house by getting our things out of storage and cleaning it, then putting it where it went, washing loads of dishes that we got out of storage, wiping out every cupboard and every nook and cranny. The rats had a blast with our stuff while we were gone. They peed and pooped on most everything, and ripped some black plastic off things. Lucky for us we covered everything in black plastic so it had a little extra protection. We are finally settled in! We (my sisters and I) started school last Tuesday. We always have lots of homework. I am on the rugby team, and my dad still enjoys Sunday soccer, (every Sunday afternoon everyone shows up at the soccer field to play soccer.). We (my sisters and I) are enjoying getting out to hang out or play with friends. We have reconnected with friends and even made new ones. Switching lives 3 years here and 1 year in the US might not be everyones “cup of tea” but I love it. I love the fact that we can live in 2 worlds. Sometimes it is hard but other times it is very rewarding. My Dad and Mom will start working this week, so everything is almost normal again. We are still getting used to the elevation again. My mom is pretty happy to have her kitchen all unpacked. We are so excited to be back! Thank you for all your prayers!
Also, my mom wanted me to introduce myself a bit as I am taking on the blog writing, so here goes…. I have grown up in PNG most of my life. I had just turned 3 when we first arrived to PNG in 2006. I lived at the supply center for the Sepik region for 9 years and then we moved to Goroka. This year will be our 4th year here. I enjoy taking pictures of nature! And I have been getting into writing blog posts. I also like sports. This year for school, I plan on playing rugby and soccer and maybe volleyball. And I love to laugh! I am in 10th grade and going to be 16 in September. I am the oldest of my sisters, Kara (14), Macy (11) and Livia (8).
Great post. We’re glad to have you all back in PNG and we look forward to reading more of your thoughts and updates in the weeks and months ahead. Privileged to serve (and play Sun afternoon soccer) alongside you.
