Thanks so much for your prayers for us over the past month. DJ’s dad came to visit us from Oct.11-16 at the beginning of his very busy trip to Asia Pacific from the US. His visit happened during the kids’ fall break from school, so we got to do fun things together while he was here—like a ropes course and a water park.
When Dad left on the 16th to continue his trip back to his (and our) former island of service, DJ went with him. DJ was gone for 10 days and went all the way up to the village where we used to live. He and Dad were able to help Rachel with her solar power system (which still isn’t functioning as well as we’d like—please pray for a good solution for that), her 2-way radio antenna (now working again—Praise the Lord!), and her porch steps (replaced rotten wooden steps with concrete.)
Our 2 language study families here in our town are continuing to progress through stage 3 of their studies. One of the families will be moving to another island (the one where we used to serve) at the end of this month, to finish their stage 3 and stage 4 national language studies and then, Lord willing, to move interior and learn the language of a people group who have never heard the Gospel in their own language yet. The other family will continue their stage 3 and 4 studies here before moving on into an aviation ministry. Please pray for both families (the Kellers and the Kresges.) Acquiring a new language and culture is hard, hard work. If you want to read about some of what goes into the job these families are doing right now, check out our blog post here: https://blogs.ethnos360.org/dj-searcy/2017/10/17/whats-in-a-language/
Please keep praying for our kids too, as they are all still struggling in school (especially the girls with the work load in 7th grade.) All of them need official learning disabilities testing and diagnosis, so we are looking into how we might be able to have that done in the next year or so. We’d appreciate prayers for wisdom.
I (Jennifer) will be traveling to our former island from Nov. 27 to Dec.5 to help with 3 language evaluations, one stage 3 in the national language and two stage 2’s in a tribal language. Thanks so much for praying for us in all of our travels.
