In August of 2007 we moved into a remote tribal location in Asia Pacific to begin assisting the Punan team with the Bible translation project. We teamed up with the Punan church and DJ’s sister Rachel to see the Word of God translated into the Punan language. We served as part of the Punan team until July 2013.
In the summer of 2013, we were asked to consider filling a need for language consultant and orientation personnel for our field’s national language and culture study program. So we moved to a small city on another island where we helped to receive and orient new families during their first year or so on the field. DJ oversaw housing and maintenance, helped with visa processing and other paperwork, and informally discipled others in church and work contexts. Jennifer did language and culture consulting–giving specific direction and evaluations to those learning the national language. We served in the orientation and consulting ministry for 8 years. Altogether we served in Asia Pacific for 16 years.
In 2021 we had to move back to the USA due to health needs in our family. Since then DJ has been serving as a network administrator on the US home office IT operations team for Ethnos360. Jennifer has continued to help with language consulting from afar for 3 teams learning remote languages back in Asia Pacific, and has also joined the CLA (Culture & Language Acquisition) Development team working on updated culture & language learning curriculum. We are thankful to have the opportunity to support church planting ministries through these roles.
