Summer

July 25, 2026 by DJ and Jennifer Searcy

Thank you for your prayers for us over the past few months. May was full of graduation activities for us as Areli graduated from nursing school and Tyndale from high school. Areli passed her NClex exam in June and is now a Registered Nurse. She is now enjoying a road trip that she has been planning for some time, after which she will be applying for jobs. Tyndale will be starting his college classes at Texas A&M Galveston on August 24.

Galilee has an appointment with a new neurologist this coming Monday, and is also trying to get an appointment with an immunologist. Galilee and DJ have been tending their garden which has produced well this year. We’ve had enough extra produce to give some away at church and to other friends.

Jennifer will be helping with evaluations from afar for 3 people in Asia Pacific during the last week of August. These may be the final evaluations for all 3. Pray for all 3 of them as they juggle ministry responsibilities, family responsibilities, and preparations for the evaluations. Pray also for Jennifer’s coworker who will be traveling to a remote location to lead the evaluations on-site.

DJ traveled to Ohio in May to spend some time with his mom and his grandparents as his grandfather was nearing the end of his life. Grandpa passed away the day after DJ arrived. It was a bittersweet time with his family. On his way back from Ohio, he spent some time with his sister in north Texas too.

Last week we had historic rainfall amounts and flooding here in our part of Texas. We were at the center of the highest rainfall amounts and recorded 31 inches of rain in 3 ½ days. 28 inches of that fell in 50 hours. The river a mile from our house flooded 3 days in a row and our bridge to get across the river was underwater for almost a week. We were without running water for several days as our water well is in the flood plain, but we had saved water and were able to collect rainwater. Our cabin as well as the other family members’ houses on the property are all built on high ground and were not affected by the flooding. Please be in prayer for all those (including several of our friends) from the nearby towns whose homes were flooded.
