When you are not part of Ethnos360 where do you go to get training, equipment and tech support on off-grid solar electric systems?
You could go to a local supplier but will their system work in a remote location in the tropics? Also will the system handle all the lightning that happens in tropical locations?
In most cases local suppliers are not able to meet the needs that we have for using solar electric in the tropics.
That is where:
OFFGRID TECH, formally the NTM Tech Center has been teaching missionaries about solar since the early 90’s. OFFGRID TECH has 100’s of solar electric systems installed in some of the most remote places on the planet. With a collective experience of over 50 years in the solar and off-grid industry, it is our privilege to partner with over 100 ministries in finding reliable, efficient and sustainable solutions to their off-grid technology hurdles.
Teaching has been my main ministry here at OFFGRID TECH. Just last week we had a Solar Electric Seminar that representatives from 12 different mission organization attended.
We have 22 hours of lecture/discussion and 15 hours of hands-on labs.
Another great thing about the Solar Electric Seminar is the food. Tina and several others do a great job at feeding us snacks in the AM and PM as well as a great lunch.
On Friday afternoon we do a question and answer time and some optional lectures and labs, propane, solar cooking/hot water and cooler houses in the tropics.
Once each student has completed this class they have had the hands on experience of mounting PV panels, wiring PV panels, wiring the main system, programing the main system, wiring AC outlets and wringing DC outlets. They also walk away with a complete solar electric system designed for their personal family’s needs.
We usually only have one seminar a year but this year we are having two. Our next one will be going on August 20-24. If your mission organization is interested please contact us at support@offgridtech.org or contact me through this blog.
