A change that will last for ever…

May 16, 2011 by Nadia Hattingh

The follow-up meeting with all the leaders from our local community has been just as encouraging as the first… (See: blogs.ethnos360.org/francois-hattingh/We understand)

Our closest neighbour and also the guys who is standing in for us (“championing”) in the community Americo, has been very quiet during the first meeting. (He is the guy on the right on the photo, with his back to the camera). He has been going to the Bible teaching every afternoon and there too, he is quiet. We were wondering how much he understands and what he believes…

During this second meeting we got a glimpse of that! He took the lead during the meeting and at one stage he said something to the effect of: This coming of these friends will long be remembered by the generations to come. They will all look back and know that this was a important point in time for our Mwinika people. This is the time that God’s Word is coming to us in our own language. For the first time and probably the last time. Let our children’s children not say we did not grab this opportunity… Let them not say we had God’s Word and we did not listen to it and rejected it! He was saying that this generation have the privilege to become part of a change that will last forever… and that they should not reject it!

Everyone agreed. The leaders pledged to take the responsibility for the literacy students’ attendance. They all agreed that the WANT the Bible teaching to come to them as soon as possible. (At this stage, although some in our community are participating, the teaching is done in a neighbouring community where our partners live and therefore many cannot go. Most of the people in our local community have not had the opportunity to hear yet…)

We believe it too: This is God’s time for the Mwinika people. Pray that many, many will receive it; believe it and allow it to change them from the inside out! Thank the Lord for what He is doing in our friend’s life and that Americo will accept Jesus as his personal Saviour.
