Arriving at the guest house (see picture on the right taken the next day) the Maindo team was happy to receive Francois. They sat down for a 3 hour wait for a chicken and pap (maize porridge) evening meal. By this time, Francois was ready for bed! He slept in the “other” guesthouse in town. Also without electricity, running water or … painted walls for that matter :).
Francois and the team enjoyed encouraging each other spiritually as well as practically. In this picture Francois is helping them to set up their external cell phone antenna. This makes it possible for the team to have access to the world out there. Pray that the antenna direction can be properly tied down, so that they may also have email access.
The next step for the Maindo team, is to establish themselves in location by building houses. Francois enjoyed the opportunity in forging new relationships with local leaders in the location the team will be moving into. The papers were signed that hand the plots of land over to the two couples to build simple houses on.
The team plans to build very simply at first. The Maindo people live in tiny houses made of mud and sticks or grass. (See the Maindo house on the photo). Again, the team seems to be undaunted by the challenge of making one of these small dwellings their home. They are focussed on their relationships and witness in the community first and foremost. Comfort seem to have a low priority to the Maindo team at this stage!
