The prayer of a righteous man

September 19, 2013 by Nadia Hattingh

Yesterday, we heard that Nadia’s mom was still bleeding internally after an operation last week. They did not realize it, in fact the doctor insisted that her symptoms are “fake”, until he finally looked at her yesterday… By then she was very weak.

Swart Hand, one of the guys working with Francois (but not a teacher), has steadily shown spiritual growth as he became more grounded in God’s Word. Although Mwinika men don’t cry in public, not even at a funeral, Swart Hand cried when he learned anew how much Christ has suffered to pay the price for his sin. Yesterday, when the men working with Francois heard about Nadia’s mom, Swart Hand prayed:

“Oh Lord God, we ask that you, who is almighty and able, heal Nadia’s mother. Give her spirit new strength through your Spirit who is living in her. We ask this of you because of Jesus, our Saviour.”

God says in his Word: “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective,” (James 5:16b) and indeed: Nadia’s mom is already doing better! All honour to our God.
