Running with Perseverance

October 29, 2013 by Nadia Hattingh

Having run many marathons in his “young days”, including the famous (or notorious?) Comrades Marathon of 97 km, Francois tells me that for him, the hardest part of any race are those last kilometres! Your heart is already there at the end, telling you that the race is finished; you have made it… But you are NOT there yet. The race is still to be completed.

We are now in that last kilometres of the marathon teaching in our Village! For 6 months Francois, Jatito, Hendrik, Salim, Vrydag and Shar have been teaching every afternoon, four days a week, every week without any real break. (Francois attended every meeting, while the other guys took turns). We count it our privilege and joy to be able to share the Good News with our Mwinika friends, but we are out of breath, sweating and straining to finish the last kilometres of this race!

There are only 5 days left of teaching from Genesis to Revelation! (By the time this blog is posted there are only 4 days left!). This last week Francois and his Mwinika co-teachers will teach on the end times in Revelation, showing that there will be an end to this imperfect world. All those who believe can all look forward to Jesus’ return and a New Heaven and New Earth!

So, please pray with us… “let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross..” (Heb 12:1b, 2a).
