In our last update we asked you to pray for good weather as Manubu’ Bible teachers travel to the seminar and also for good weather during the seminar. It is rainy season here and with many rivers to cross and a tin roof that makes a lot of noise when it rains prayer for good weather was essential. Thanks so much for praying. The weather turned sunny the day before everyone started to travel and remained sunny during the whole three day seminar and for the days after seminar as the teachers traveled home!
Forty four men attended the seminar. Ten of those are Bible teacher trainees. We studied about God’s Word and praise and thankfulness. Some of the men preached, and their messages were very encouraging. For example 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. And James 4:13-16.
During the time of partaking of the Lord’s Supper on the last day of the seminar Gene shared how 23 years ago when we first started learning the Manubu’ language so we could teach them the Word of God we attended a sacrifice to observe and photograph it. There was dancing around, and calling the spirits, and killing a pig and drinking the blood, and spreading of blood on the people attending. Some of the men attending the seminar were boys at that time and took part in that sacrifice. Now they are saved and teaching God’s Word, and we were sharing the Lord’s Supper with them. We all cried and praised God for the wondrous things he has done among the Manubu’.
One of the teachers commented that they seem to just keep planning more evangelistic outreaches but without actually doing them. He said it is time to get out and actually do them. Outreaches are not just a quick trip to a village to preach a time or two, but involve a commitment of years to see people saved and taught and men raised up from among them to lead and teach them.
Please PRAY for many more evangelistic outreaches to start and for many to be saved and to go on strong for the Lord.
