A few days ago a number of the believers from our village attended a wedding in the lowlands. The man that was married is one of the sons of a Manubu’ Bible teacher whom we call “Pablu” because he so faithful in teaching God’s word. He and his family moved to that lowland village two or three years ago in order to evangelize. It has been slow going. The first time he taught the evangelistic phase of the teaching only about four women listened. The next time he taught it there were again just a few who listened. God has taken care of Pablu and his family, but has brought them through some pretty lean times. They were getting discouraged because after all the time they have lived there and suffered there for the gospel, there are only a handful of believers.
But, now after the wedding, there is more interest. The unsaved in the village were so impressed with the believers from our village who attended the wedding and so impressed with the wedding that honored God that many said that they now want to listen to the evangelistic phase of the teaching! There was no drunkenness like there would normally be at the wedding of the unsaved. No fights. Lots of singing to the Lord. What a delight it was to hear of the testimony the believers from our village had to the people there. So please PRAY that they will indeed listen and be saved and serve the Lord.
But, we’ve also noticed over the past couple of years that the fervor of the believers here for the Word of God and their fervor for walking with Him daily has been waning. Last week, Piduy, who is our primary translation helper, shared with Gene that he sometimes cries at night asking the Lord to return to him the love and fervor that he had for the Lord in the past. We’re been praying for revival for some time now. It was encouraging to hear Piduy express his need for revival and his desire to experience it. Acknowledgment of the need is where it starts.
Saturday night Piduy and Tilmun, who is teaching the believers every week now, discussed the situation. And on Sunday instead of carrying on teaching from 1 Peter there was some teaching and discussion on the need for revival. For example, there was one lady who shared how she used to listen to the Holy Spirit, but lately she has just been ignoring Him. She wants to get back to listening to the Holy Spirit.
So, there is a spark of revival. Please PRAY that the spark with flare into full fledged revival.
We praise the Lord for your praying with us and for answered prayers. He is indeed able to do above all that we can ask or think.
