We have been back in our village for about two weeks now. Our satellite internet system started working again yesterday after being down for more than two weeks. We are so glad that it is working again. No more hauling a battery, cell signal booster, computer and other paraphernalia up to a tiny building at the top of a hill outside the village each day in order to do email :-).
Biopsy report for Gene’s swollen lymph node came back. It said, “Acute and Chronic inflammatory pattern – negative for malignant cells.” Other lab results showed no bacteria. It is still slightly swelled and swelled up more and became painful a couple of days ago after he demonstrated to workers how to mix concrete. A homeopathic remedy took the pain away completely and the swelling went down most of the way overnight. So, don’t really know the cause of the problem – just have to be careful about not stressing it.
It is pretty certain that a man from New Zealand will be coming in May to re-roof our house and maybe do some other work on the house also. Not clear yet if one, two, or three others will be coming with him. We’ve ordered plastic roofing. It is made to order so by the time the price quotation, other paperwork, and manufacturing is done it can be a number of weeks. Please PRAY that it will arrive in town in plenty of time to fly it here to our village before the workers arrive.
We’ve ordered a lot of corn seed for the Manubu’ here. It is scheduled to be picked sometime this month. Please PRAY that it will be good seed, that insects won’t carry the seed away or eat it after it is planted, and that they will have a good crop of corn.
Mahan and Arsisa have moved to the other province to work and teach God’s Word. Their initial trip there to get jobs was not successful because the jobs require that they have social security numbers and other government paperwork. In order to get social security numbers they first have to get birth certificates. When you are born in the jungle you don’t get one at birth! You have to apply to the government for one, and it can take months to get it. There are other possibilities for jobs that don’t require all that paperwork, but the last we heard they haven’t yet gotten jobs. Please PRAY for good jobs for them and fruitful ministry. We would love to see the Manubu’ there saved and become a strong church sending out missionaries.
We appreciate very much each one who partners with us in God’s work through prayer, encouragement and gifts.
