Water Buffalo Down – Urgent

March 8, 2013 by Gene and Carol Trudeau

An urgent prayer request. The Manubu’ here have been making their living logging using water buffalo to haul the logs out of the jungle. But, an eye disease has spread throughout the water buffalo in our area – they are staggering around nearly blinded. It is probably a bacterial infection spread by flies.

On Monday, a couple of men plan to go to the agriculture office of our municipality about 2 12 hours away to seek help with diagnosis and treatment. Please PRAY that they will be able to get help.

When they bought their water buffalo they were relatively inexpensive, but since then the price has skyrocketed. So the cost to them now to replace a water buffalo would be like the cost to an American to buy an expensive car. Except there are no bank loans to buy water buffalo, and even if there were they wouldn’t be able to get loans because they have no regular income to make payments. So this is a serious situation for them.
