The water buffalo that were blind with a white covering over their eyes are now seeing again thanks to advice from a friend in one of our supporting churches. Squirts of pure coconut oil in the eye daily have done wonders. It turned out that there were only two water buffalo owned by people here in our village who were affected, but they were afraid it would spread.
Both water buffalo had one eye half or more covered with white and the other eye all covered with white. They can now see out of the lesser affected eye, but it is not clear if the ones all white will be totally healed. But, at least they can now see and are able to work. It was fortunate that we had pure coconut oil on hand.
Buying corn seed has been difficult. Tilmun and Maricel, the couple from our village who relocated to the lowlands a year or so ago so Tilmun can teach God’s Word there, ordered seed for our village, some other villages, and themselves from a grower in their area who was about to harvest – over 300 pounds of it! And a lady came to our village and took an order from us for another 100 pounds.
Everyone has been so excited that corn seed would soon arrive. However, only about 80 pounds has been bought because the people ordered from sold their harvest to others. And, when the sack containing that 80 pounds of seed was opened here in our village it turned out to be no good.
So, Tilmun is trying to find more seed to buy. There is a big demand for seed that isn’t hybrid so seed from the harvest can be planted. Please PRAY that Tilmun and others helping to look for corn seed will be able to find good seed. Because of the demand the price has gone up which means that the money we gave Tilmun to buy the amount of seed needed is no longer adequate.
We’re praying that there will be someone trustworthy going down that way from our village who can take more money to Tilmun. Thanks to all of you who gave funds to buy seed with, we do have funds on hand 🙂 – just no seed to buy at present :-(. People have land all cleared and ready to plant and are praying for seed to be available before that land grows up to weeds.
We haven’t heard anything new about how Mahan and Arsisa are doing at their outreach in another province except that they do need to get birth certificates and social security numbers to work for a company. Mahan has been working part time taking logs down river for loggers – dangerous and very low paying work. Please continue to PRAY that if it is the Lord’s timing for teaching His word there that Mahan and Arsisa will persevere and will see the Lord’s marvelous provision in His time.
It is now definite that Anthony from New Zealand plans to come in May to work on our roof. Praise the Lord with us for this good news. It isn’t known yet how many others will be able to come with him.
Gene has been busier than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs doing and overseeing urgent repairs and also getting materials ready for those coming to help. In between he works on revision of Bible lessons. Carol is making good progress on revising the translation she did a number of years ago of the medical book Where There is No Doctor.
“Blessed be the name of God forever: for wisdom and might are His: And He changeth the times and the seasons; He removeth kings, and setteth up kings..” (Daniel) Isn’t that an encouraging portion of Scripture, especially in these days of turmoil the world over?
