We recently asked for prayer for Astun who has been a faithful Manubu Bible teacher for some years now. He was very ill and had been hospitalized in a city. We’ve just received an update on his condition. It is always difficult to find out just what sickness a person has. When a tribal person goes to a doctor the doctor doesn’t know the language of the tribal person so speaks to the patient in the common language of our island which the tribal people understand to some extent. Usually, for medical terms doctors will use English. So more often than not the tribal person goes away not really knowing what his sickness is.
We are not able to talk with Astun personally as he lives a long ways from us so the report we have is second or third hand. It is said that he was prescribed medicine to reduce the swelling of his liver, and the medicine caused his liver to shrink and break the bitter part of the liver which spread out around the liver. Not sure what that all that means except that he was released from the hospital as a terminal case, and is said to be very sick and has not reached his home village but is staying in a village in the lowlands.
We know that if his sickness is indeed terminal that God is allowing it as part of a larger plan and good purpose that only He knows. But, we also know that if it is God’s wills he will get well. So, let’s continue to PRAY for Astun and also for someone to take his place teaching God’s Word either until Astun gets well or permanently.
Many Manubu’ believers from various Manubu’ villages have gathered here in our village for a few days. There will a wedding, baptisms, and preaching over the next three days or so. Please PRAY that it will be a time of great spiritual encouragement for them.
