A Replacement for Astun

November 29, 2013 by Gene and Carol Trudeau

About three days ago a Manubu’ bible teacher who attended the believers gathering here in our village went up on a hill above our village where there is cell phone signal and received a text message saying that Astun had died. A short time later he received another text message that Astun was breathing again. We don’t know whether or not he is still alive. Astun told fellow believers that he was not concerned about dying because he is saved, but he was concerned that someone would take over his teaching. That prayer has been answered.

Aylu, a Manubu who has been a bible teacher for many years, will be taking over Astun’s teaching. Thank’s for praying about this. Aylu was the first one to teach God’s Word at Astun’s village, and Astun was saved through his teaching. Alyu lives at a village about a two hour hike from Astun’s village. He will not be able to move to Astun’s village because his rice and corn fields are near the village where he lives. Please PRAY for perseverance for Aylu as he hikes each week to Astun’s village to teach God’s Word to the believers there.

Also please PRAY that there will be men among the believers at Astun’s village whom Aylu can train to teach God’s Word. New teachers start by teaching the more than forty evangelistic lessons from creation to Christ and eventually work into teaching believers – it is a long process of training and learning to become a qualified teacher of believers.

We really appreciate all of you who are partners with us through prayer.
