We wrote recently that the test strips that Gene needs to self monitor his blood coagulation have not yet become available. The company representative does not answer messages. A laboratory gave us a cell number for the person at Roche Diagnostics through whom they purchase test strips. Whenever we try to call that person we just get a recording that that number is either unattended or out of coverage area. Gene is taking medication for his yeast overgrowth that affects Coumadin, and because he is not able to check the coagulation of his blood because of lack of test strips, he has stopped taking Coumadin. Please PRAY that we will be able get test strips soon. Praise the Lord that Gene has not had a serious spell of heart fibrillation since stopping Coumadin.
Pulding and another Manubu’ bible teacher will be going to the lowlands to pick up the bible teacher motorcycle that a Manubu’ bible teacher there has been using temporarily. The bike will enable Pulding and Anu to travel to the villages where they expect to start teaching the 42 lesson evangelistic lessons covering from creation to Christ. Please PRAY that God will prepare the hearts of the Manubu’ in those villages so they will all want to hear the teaching, be saved, and go on with the Lord.
We have a number of projects underway as we work on being sure that the Manubu’ bible teachers and churches now and in the future even after we have gone (Lord willing, a few years yet) have an adequate supply of copies of bible lesson books, laminated colored drawings that go with some of the lessons, and New Testament and lesson recordings – all in the two dialects we work in. This involves 48 copies of 33 bible lesson books – so a total 1,584 copies of books! And 3780 copies of drawings which we print on our inkjet printer and laminate.
Another project is that we would also like to set up a fund to help the Manubu’ bible teachers with maintenance and registration of their motorcycle. The Manubu’ believers here in our village are generous in giving to the Lord’s work, but they seldom have much cash.
So, if you would like to be involved in any of those projects listed above in a financial way, you can send funds to New Tribes Mission, 1000 E 1st St, Sanford, FL 32771-1487. Checks should be made out to New Tribes Mission and notated for the 6MANU3 account which is our project fund account. If you wish, you can designate for a particular project. And if you agree for us to use some or all of the funds for a different project should we receive more than enough for the project you designate, please give permission either with a note with the check or via email to us. If you would like details about the cost of each project just send us an email.
Whether or not you can be involved in a financial way, please PRAY for the funding of these projects and the logistics of accomplishing them.
We still have years of work to do in preparing more helps for the Manubu’ churches including more OT translation and a topical concordance, but it is exciting to be at the stage of church planting that we are at now. And we hope that you who have prayed and given are exited too about what God has accomplished here among the Manubu’ people.
