There are a number of people here in our village and surrounding area with TB and more keep getting it. In order to get medicine (which is free) from the government they are required to have a chest x-ray to be sure that the problem is TB. And then after taking medicine for a few months they are required to have another x-ray before being given more medicine. To have an x-ray done they have to go four to six hours away to get to a hospital that can do x-rays. Many don’t do that because they don’t have the money to pay for transportation and x-ray. So, the TB just spreads to others. If the many month treatment is started but not completed the TB can become a drug resistant variety and very difficult to treat and even more dangerous to the village.
We are setting up a project fund to help people with the cost of getting TB treatment. We also want to buy a small stock of medicine so if as occasionally happens the government runs out of medicine we can fill in with medicine until the government has more stock.
If you would like to give to this project you can send funds to New Tribes Mission, 1000 E 1st St, Sanford, FL 32771-1487 as usual, but not designated for us – our names should not be on the gift at all. Rather it should be sent designated for account 6MANU3 and designated for TB Project. The funds will then go into a special project fund we have and will not be subject to 6% field dues or taxes.
When funds are give to a project fund it takes a quite a while before it becomes available to us. So, if you do contribute funds please let us know via email how much you have contributed so we can plan.
Have a Godly day
