January 2009
Happy New Years Greetings! We’re taking tim eto smell the flowers as we run the race for the Lord!
Our Christmas was fun and an all day event! We enjoyed the family and our friend from the U.K., Andrew C., who was visiting. He flew out Christmas Day to go home after a 2 week visit.
All of our children were home and it was a fun day! We had a nice long weekend in Ft. Lauderdale at the Heckman’s home over New Year’s. Brett and Debby and Baby Chloe were able to be there with us for
part of the time, and we had a great time visiting with family, and cousins. We were able to help out with some yard work, and cleaning the shed and garage. That was a huge help to Mom and Dad, but
even so they both worked very hard on it, too!
Now we are home again, and beginning a new year!
Almost the whole family is sick. All at various stages of the “crud”! Linda, for once, is the healthiest of the lot! Wow! Amy is on round 3, I think! She is tired of being sick! Beka is just getting it and woke up with a fever yesterday! George went home early to rest a bit, Monday, and to take the boys to the doctor. (They aren’t that sick, as they are getting over the “crud”, but I had
scheduled a visit to look at some suspicious moles.)
Our days are still full and we feel like we are running all the time! This weekend we have another trip, as a friend of ours went Home to be with the Lord last week, so we will go to his memorial service on Saturday in the Tampa area. WE may do some visiting of friends a supporters over there while we are there. Beka flies out to Wisconsin on Saturday, and Debby and Brett will be up for the weekend to say goodbye to her. We are also hosting Youth Group at our house Friday. Amy’s planning a movie night this week on Wednesday & Thursday to fellowship with some college aged kids who are still on break. We had a dentist appointment for Tim today. A podiatrist appointment for David next week, and a dentist appointment for Amy next week. Tim has basketball games twice a week, and practices 3 days a week.
So…I think you can see what I mean—our days are full!
We are running! THANK YOU for praying for us!
We appreciate you prayers for our strength and the GRACE and stamina we need to do the work God has put before us. Our days at the NTM offices are full. Here are some examples:
1. A country of in West Africa just underwent a political change when their former president died. So we were watching that news front to see how our folks there might be affected.
2. The NTM Missionary Training Center in Camdenton, Missouri, had 44 New Members finish the training (singles and couples = 76 total) and graduate this semester. They will now begin their Partnership Development before going to their first ministry assignment. Some of that gtroup are staying for Linguistics training. We processed their paperwork and sent them information to welcome them as our co-workers in New Tribes Mission.
3. Several of our missionary families are facing losing
a loved one very soon. Linda is in contact with at least 5 families now who are dealing with these issues. As she just lost her Mom in November, she has more empathy for these dear folks than before!
As you can see, we really need your prayers for wisdom, and strength and the means to continue on in our ministry and in our business. Thank you so much for the part you have in our lives!
Please feel free to contact us. We love to hear from you, and remember your prayer requests before the Throne of Grace.
May you have a wonderful new year, walking with out God and Savior.
In His Strength,
George and Linda Heckman and family
