H a p p y F a l l !
October 2009
We had one week (almost) of nice, cooler weather so far! Yea!
We trust you have had a great month since I last wrote. The Lord wants to draw us so close to Himself as we walk through our days. I pray that He would continually show Himself strong on your behalf as you walk with Him!
The last weekend of September we had our annual Home Office staff Beach Retreat. This is such a special time for us as it usually falls on David’s Birthday. It is like a ready-made party! The kids love it, and we enjoy the time to relax and unwind for a couple of days. Brett & Debby and Chloe came, too. Our Youth group had an “in-room-cook-out” as well as spent some great time together. David is now 17! He is a blessing in our lives. He is looking forward to a trip to visit Beka in Wisconsin soon.
The MK’s & Friends youth had a volunteer work day, in September to get a big chunk of work done on our rental house. What a fun day, and they really did a lot of work! Thanks MK’s! We have been studying the “One Another’s” in Scripture and how that LOOKS in real life. These kids sure are a good example of loving one another. The house project continues to move along well. We got 2 rooms painted and carpeted last weekend and we have 5 sets of our “industrial strength” shelves up in the garage. Much of our inventory has been moved over there. Progress is being made!
The restructuring of the Youth leadership team is going well. We have another planning meeting tonight. Upcoming events may be a trip to a Creation Science seminar in Jacksonville, a concert in Orlando, and 2 of our kids sharing about the summer missions trip they took last summer. Plenty is going on! Want to come and visit? You are welcome anytime!
The work in the Member Services Offices runs along quite well in the Fall. We find a bit of time to catch up and review many documents that are sent out to our new members each year. We have walked several of our dear saints through the retirement process. They are willing to “retire” but they never want to stop!
How nice that we can continue to serve the Lord no matter what our age is! He always wants to use us to take the Gospel to the world. We are seeing several new Associate missionaries joining our membership, and are excited to see God moving in folks to send them out into the harvest.
Thank you, so much for your part in the ministry we have here with New Tribes Mission. We so appreciate your prayers for us in the ventures God has led us into. Please take a look at the prayer request sheet for specific requests. Thanks!
In His Strength,
George and Linda Heckman and Family
