January 2010
Dear Friends,
Happy New Year! Wow the last year went so fast, maybe I should wish you Happy 2011 now! They say “time flies when you are having fun”, so we must be having a great time!!!
Christmas was fun with the whole family here, plus a couple of “extras”. Our friends Tristin and Nicky joined us for fun and food and a relaxing Christmas day!
We worked at home the week after Christmas, and left the 30th for South Florida to spend New Year’s with George’s family. It was fun seeing the entire Heckman branch of the family again.
2010 came in with lots of fireworks. Beka and I fell asleep and slept right through it all! OOPS-not much celebration there! George, Amy, and the boys celebrated with Mom and Dad. Brett and Debby and Chloe were there too. (Debby and Chloe slept too. Are you surprised?)
New Year’s Day, Brett and Debby and Chloe flew out to Sacramento to spend some time with Brett’s family. His mom is terminal, with cancer that has now spread throughout her body. She is spending her last days at home, with her family and we are praying that her Home-going will be sweet. (She is a believer, several in the family are not.) Please pray for God’s love and His comfort to be evident for all who are there. Pray that Brett and Debby will have opportunities to share the Gospel, and that those there will see and hear about the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Our year has gotten off to a busy start. Our book business is still going along well. The Member Services offices are keeping us all busy, as well. We have 41 new members that have just finished their training at the MTC in Missouri. What a blessing to see these young folks getting ready to go out to the world and take the Gospel with them to the unreached tribal groups. We have just about finished processing their paperwork.
Thanks so much for the part you play on our team. We could not be here to serve our missionaries without your prayers and your care for us. It was a blessing to see God provide for us this Christmas. Thanks for having a part in that. You are appreciated!
Have a wonderful winter! We had 28 degrees this morning!!! Bright and sunny, but cold! (I like snow!) 🙂
In Him,
George and Linda Heckman and family
