September 2012
Dear Friends,
Greetings from Sunny Florida! We trust the summer days were a blessing to you and yours, and that as Fall approaches, you remember with us the faithfulness of our Great God.
This first week of September brings our family about 5 birthdays in a row. Today is George’s special day. Yay! Brett’s was the 3rd and Chloe’s is the 6th. She is a big 4 year old tomorrow! Linda’s 2 brothers also have early September birthdays.
Please remember to pray for Brett and Debby. Brett still needs to find another part time job to provide for their family. He is an associate pastor at their church part time, but needs another part time job. Thanks. Also remember David at the Bible Institute in Wisconsin. He is having a great time with friends going out witnessing and inviting folks to church. He says the overall attitude at school is much better this semester. Praise the Lord. Please pray that God will provide the finances he needs as he is starting out the school year. His job doesn’t start for a bit yet, and he is a little short on his initial fees that were due in August. Our God is providing and, David is trusting for the provisions he needs. What a great time of growth! Tim is working a landscaping/yard maintenance job. This has been a great job for him. Pray that he will stay focused on the Lord each day as he works. Beka is doing well at the EVAC ambulance job. She is enjoying her nights (She works 6pm to 6 am) and taking opportunities to speak for the Lord. She keeps recording and writing songs as she goes along, too.
Amy and Hector are doing well in Mexico. Their training has begun, and they are learning lots. Please pray they have wisdom about the immigration issues they are facing. Hector needs to apply for his green card. We would os love for them to be able to come for Christmas. Pray with us for the green card process to go quickly and smoothly. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your prayers for our family. We do appreciate it so much. We do ask for continued prayer on our behalf. We know it to be God’s will for each member in our family to be wise, and make good solid choices to walk in the light of the Lord. As we face the world and the flesh and the devil each day, please hold us up as you remember us, that we all would stand strong in the Lord.
We, in the Member Services offices, continue to hone our procedures, and services to serve our members the best we can. We have a gal working with us for the next little while to help us make our manuals very user friendly, and prepare our responsibilities for the next person who takes it. We are not moving on, but the Mission wants us to write instructions for what we do and how we do it for a manual for each ministry. We did this also, years ago, in Baker. It just makes it easier to “pass the baton” when the time comes. Linda will be working with Kris on Wednesdays for the next few months to refine the Member Services Manual. Pray that we make it very usable and understandable.
We are sending out fewer Home Assignment packets lately, as most of our travelling missionaries have returned to their places of service, or are settled in their Home Assignment places of ministry. The summer is always a very busy time of tracking folks as they leave the field and return home or return to their field of service. Pray for those who are adjusting to the “new culture of Home”. Often the changes faced in the home country are hard, and aren’t really expected! Just look at the cereal aisle in a grocery store and you can get an idea of the many, many decisions a missionary on home assignment faces at home, that they don’t face on the field! Usually cereal on the field is: 1. Too expensive to buy, and 2. There is usually a choice of 2 or 3 items to choose from. The kinds and brands and flavors and multitudes of boxes is often an overwhelming decision for a missionary at “home” again. Thanks for remembering to pray for the missionaries who are home and their adjustment.
Well, we will bid you farewell. We miss you so much. We are so thankful to know you are there for us praying and remembering us before the throne of God. Thank you so much for your care.
Love In Christ,
George and Linda Heckman
